Before you start planning your wedding, talk through these three points to frame the type of wedding you want to create. Then the rest of the planning will go much easier. Good luck!
- Do you want a big or small wedding? There is no right or wrong, but it governs almost every other decision
- What feeling do you want? It's not about theme, decoration or color, it's about the feeling !
- What do you want to prioritize? Time together? Food? Music? Pictures? Venue? Decoration? Party?

18-12 months before
- Set a date for your wedding
- Set a budget
- Book a venue for the wedding party
- Decide on a civil or church wedding
- Book a church if you choose a church wedding.
- Decide how many guests you want to invite and make a guest list first.
- Send "save the date"
12-6 months before
- Book a photographer, makeup artist, hairdresser and florist
- Also book catering staff if you will use that solution.
- Order invitation cards
- Time to try on clothes
- Decide on a wedding menu. See if a tasting is offered.
- Choose your bridesmaids, bridesmaids, marshals, groomsmen and toastmasters
- Choose a priest/marriage officiant
- Book entertainment for the party if you choose to have one (DJ, or soloist for example)

4 months before
- Order an obstacle course test (to be done no earlier than four months before the wedding)
- Choose rings
- Order printed materials, such as place cards and menus
- Make a driving schedule for the day, preferably together with your toast partner.
- Send out your invitation cards
- Contact your suppliers
1 month before
- Book a meeting with your photographer to go over the day and driving schedule.
- Try on your clothes and make any adjustments so that the clothes fit perfectly.
- Make the table placement
- Plan all the decor
- Write placement cards
- Get your rings
- Meet with your priest or officiant
- Delegate tasks to family and friends, they want to help and be involved
